I have been informed by Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy TD, of the initial block grant allocation under Measure 2 Enhancement of existing group water schemes of the Rural Water Programme 2018 for Galway is €260,000.
‘I am delighted that Minister Murphy is allocating the funding and is very welcome in Galway East where there are a large number of group water schemes.
‘This is welcome for Group Water Schemes as they need assistance in continuing to keep their schemes operating to a standard required to provide water to their members.
‘The private water schemes receive a block grant annually. The grant will help run the scheme and ensure that the scheme remain viable.
‘The Local authorities will be informed of their allocation in the coming days.
