I have received confirmation that Galway County Council have been successful in their application for funding for two flood relief projects in Galway to the Office of Public Works (OPW).
€18,000.00 has been allocated for the installation of a surface water collection system on the R348 at Carrownamorrisey, Holypark, Craughwell. The works will also include several gullies, manholes and the upgrade of the existing culvert to a 900mm diameter.

€119,327.00 has been allocated for works at Clonfert to create a mound and retaining walls at the rear of 4 properties. The works will also include maintenance works to existing culverts, channels, and modification to existing upstream channels.
“I welcome this funding under the Minor Works Flood Mitigation Scheme introduced by the OPW to fund the Local Authorities to carry out these important flood relief projects to protect properties and farmyards.
I want to acknowledge the work of the local council engineering staff and the OPW officials who continue to work together to fund and carry out these important works”.
