Welcomes funding for Galway East under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS)

I welcome the funding for Walking trials under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.

Projects to benefit include Gort Riverwalk €27,424, Monivea Woods €27,000, Hymany Trail €28,316. Mucky Boots Trail, Carrabane €29,250, Kilconnell Eco Park €50,000, Glenamaddy Walking Trails €21,072, Portumna Outdoor Recreation Park €49,950 and Mountbellew Riverside Park €23,075.

The applications which were successful were made by Galway County Council and Galway Rural Development Company.

The funding scheme was set up by the Department of Rural & Community Development initiated by the then Minister Michael Ring and I as Minister for State.

The fund has been successful in providing outdoor recreation facilities throughout the constituency and this new money will add to the fine walking amenities within Galway.
