The Department of Children and Youth Affairs has awarded €9,750 to Galway County Council for the refurbishment of Tir Boy playground in Tuam
I am very pleased that this application for funding has been successful.
The award follows a report in 2019 by RoSPA – the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents – which highlighted various issues at the playground that needed attention.
While the playground is currently closed because of the COVID-19 crisis, I look forward to the works being carried and the reopening of the facility.
Twenty seven Local Authorities received a total of €450,811 in funding for 46 playground projects from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs.
Galway County Council also received funding of €3,250 for St Michael’s, Ballinasloe, while Galway City Council received €9,750 for Doughiska Playground and €9,750 for two playgrounds at the Seán Bhaile estate.
