Galway East TD and Minister for Rural Affairs Seán Canney has received confirmation that an application to cover additional construction costs for a new classroom and associated works at Sylane National School has been approved.
Minister Canney said: “I am pleased to have received notification from the Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh that the school has now been given the go-ahead for the classroom and that the grant will cover the full cost of the project.
“The project can now proceed to construction stage.This is great news for the school, the students, the parents, the staff and the Board of Management. The school has been suffering from overcrowded classrooms for the past two years. I am delighted that this urgent situation has now been resolved.
“I want to thank Minister McHugh and his Department for their support for the project.”
