Deputy Seán Canney TD has welcomed progress with the construction of the new classroom and All-Weather pitch at the school.
The works consist of a new full-size classroom linked to the existing school together with an All-Weather Astro playing surface to the rear of the school.
The classroom project is being funded by the Department of Education and is required due to the increase in numbers attending the school. The All-Weather Astro playing area is essential so that the children can exercise and engage in physical exercise in a clean dry environment.
This project is financed through school fundraising carried out by the Parents Council and Board of Management over the last number of years. The major fundraiser event was the LIPSYNC event held in April 2018. Proceeds from the event are now being used for the Astro Pitch. The students has long awaited the installation of this facility. LOUMOY Contractors are the locally based main contractor, and they expect to have the project completed later this year.
‘I am delighted to see a local rural school develop and expand the educational facilities. I want to compliment the Principle, Staff, Board of Management, parents and the wider community for their dedication to delivering education to our children’.
