Galway East TD and Minister for Rural Affairs Seán Canney has welcomed allocations totalling €9,950 to support Men’s Sheds in the constituency.
Minister Canney said: “I am delighted at the allocations from my department, the Department of Rural and Community Development, in 2019.
“The allocations, which are made under the Community Enhancement Programme, are for purchasing equipment and carrying out refurbishment works.
“Men’s Sheds supported included Tuam, Athenry, Carrabane and Loughrea, Headford, Portumna, Dunmore and Lackagh.
“I want to congratulate them on their allocations and I will continue to support all Men’s Sheds in Galway East in their pursuit of finding.
“Men’s Sheds perform a very important social service, particular for men who live in isolated areas.
“I am pleased to see that my department has also funded 33 Women’s Sheds nationally and I would strongly encourage the development of Women’s Sheds in Galway East.
“Finally, I want to acknowledge the continuing support of my ministerial colleague, Minister Michael Ring TD, for his continuing support for Men’s and Women’s Sheds.”
