I encourage farmers to apply for the new €50 million Beef Finishers Payment Scheme.
The reference period for applications is 1st February to 12th June 2020 for any eligible cattle slaughtered during this period.
The payments are exclusively for farmers whose cattle were slaughtered and the maximum number of animals a farmer can get paid for is 100 therefore the maximum payment is €10,000
Farmers must be a member of Bord BIA at the time of application or undertake to become a member of a quality scheme prior to the 30th September 2020.
Applications can be made on-line through the agfood.ie portal. If you need assistance in registering for the www.agfood.ie farmers can contact the registration help desk on 076 1064424.
The opening date for applications is 19th August and the closing date will be 9th September 2020.
‘I strongly advise eligible farmers to apply and to seek the assistance of an agricultural advisor or Teagasc Advisor who can apply on your behalf’.
Payments are expected to be made in November 2020.
