I have received confirmation that the Department of Public Expenditure and the Department of Social Welfare including both Ministers have agreed on a proposal to resolve the long outstanding employment rights which will be presented to the unions representing CE Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors.
“I met with the Minister for Social Welfare Heather Humphries last month to make and I also raised the issue in the Dáil with the Tánaiste Leo Varadkar”.
“I am hopeful that the proposal now being presented will bring this campaign to a successful conclusion following a Labour Court decision back in 2008 setting out that CE Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors were entitled to receive employment rights and entitlements”.
“The Community Employment Schemes have proven to be a vital service for communities and the Supervisor is the important link in the schemes to ensure essential works and services are delivered to a range of sporting, community and voluntary organisations”.
“The news that a proposal is now being put forward is not before time and I commend the Supervisors and their representatives who have continually sought justice from successive Governments since 2008”.
