I have received confirmation that a building contractor has been selected to carry out the construction of the long awaited 50 bed ward block at Portiuncula Hospital Ballinasloe.

“I understand that a Letter of Intent to sign a contract has been issued to the selected contractor. The contract will be signed shortly, and it is expected that work will begin on site in the coming months”.

The 50-bed block represents an investment of approximately €25 million in Portiuncula hospital that will provide for 50 much needed beds for the hospital to function.

“I look forward to the completion of this project and I commend the HSE for their endeavours in bringing this much needed investment forward to help serve the needs of Galway East and Roscommon”.
