MOBILE PHONE AND BROADCAST TASK FORCE

This week I chaired the ninth meeting of the Mobile Phone and Broadband Task Force at the Alex Hotel in Dublin.
The task force includes all stakeholders in the planning and roll out of our mobile networks and broadband infrastructure.
Collaboration is essential to ensure that we have robust systems across Ireland in order to remain competitive internationally and to grow our own domestic businesses.
One important element of our plans is the allocation of Broadband Officers to our Local Authorities. They are our eyes and ears on the ground and it is their job to identify practical opportunities to improve our networks, for example future proofing new roads to make sure ducting and connectivity is there for any future technological developments, such as 5G and fibre updates.
