Minister of State for International & Road Transport, Logistics, Rail & Ports and Leader of the Independent Group of Ministers, Seán Canney TD, has welcomed the announcement of two dedicated Farmer Clinics taking place in Galway this April to assist with applications for the Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and other area-based schemes.

The clinics, hosted by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, will provide one-to-one support to farmers in the region and are particularly valuable for those who do not have access to a FAS-approved agricultural advisor.

The Galway clinics will take place at:

  • Oranmore Lodge Hotel – Wednesday, 2nd April, from 10am to 4.30pm
  • Ard Rí House Hotel, Tuam – Wednesday, 9th April, from 10am to 4.30pm
There is also a clinic in Mayo on Thursday April 10th at the Great National Hotel in Ballina between 10am-4.30pm.

Minister Canney said:

“I strongly encourage farmers across County Galway to attend these clinics, where they can get free, expert help with submitting their BISS applications and ensure everything is completed well in advance of the May 15th deadline. These events are a practical support, especially for smaller or independent farmers who may not be working directly with an advisor.”

“Having Department officials available on-site ensures that any issues or questions can be dealt with there and then, saving time and avoiding delays or errors in applications.”

The BISS scheme is a key component of the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027, providing vital income support for farmers to sustain agricultural activity and promote environmental sustainability.

Farmers attending are advised to bring their agfood.ie login details, herd number, and PPSN to verify their identity and access their application.
