Minister of State for the OPW, Mr. Sean Canney represented the Irish Government on Wednesday during the occasion of the visit to Galway of Her Excellency, Mrs. Kolinda Garbar-Kitarovic, President of the Republic of Croatia.

The links between Galway city and her home city of Rijeka were highlighted during her visit including the fact that both Galway and the Croatian President’s home town of Rijeka are European Capitals of Culture for 2020.

The Croatian president was a civic reception at City Hall before being given a tour of the Galway 2020 Community Hub. Minister Canney accompanied President Grabar-Kitarovic to NUI Galway where she was met by the University President James Browne and fellow students. President Grabar-Kitarovic’s visit concluded with a local food demonstration to mark Galway being the European Region of Gastronomy 2018.
