Galway County Council has been granted €56,880 to carry out flood relief works at Eskerboy, Killimor, by the Office of Public Works.
I am delighted with this award for this much-needed project.
The works at Eskerboy involve the installation of a new piped drainage system to replace the existing stone and oversized culvert.
I am pleased that Galway County Council has received more than €3.5 million for flood relief under the Minor Works Scheme since I was first elected four years ago.
After being appointed Minister for the Office of Public Works in 2016, I introduced changes to the cost benefit analysis processes to make it easier for flood relief works to be approved.
I acknowledge the work of Galway County Council in its efforts to carry out works to tackle flooding and I continue to work with the council to secure funding for future flood relief projects.
