Have your say on Speed Limit Review
A review of the speed limits throughout County Galway is currently on public display from 3rd August 2018 – 7th September 2018, inclusive. Members of the public can make a submission in relation to the speed limit review during this period. The relevant documents can be viewed on the Council’s website at www.galway.ie under ‘News & Press Releases’.
In making a submission it is recommended for parties to provide a cover letter describing the required change along with a map. A contact name and address is required so that an acknowledgement can be issued.
Submissions can be made for speed limits to be introduced to locations not listed on the current proposals. However, speed limits are set out in accordance with ‘Guidelines for Setting and Managing Speed Limits in Ireland’ and there has to be sufficient justification for the introduction of a change to the default speed limit in a particular area.
