Greece as Part of the St Patrick’s Day Celebrations
I was given a very warm welcome on my first official visit to Greece as part of the St Patrick’s Day celebrations. The Museum of Cycladic Art was lit in green last night – the first time a building in Athens has marked the festival in this way.
Greece and Ireland have many historic links beginning with the Greek cartographer Claudius Ptolemy who created the most reliable map of Ireland of its age in 140 AD.
It was great to meet so many people from the Greek-Irish community and I very much look forward to my meetings with Government leaders today.
