There are a lot of people fishing for votes this week but I started the week concentrating on pursuing the aquatic kind.
As part of my ministerial responsibility for Inland Fisheries Ireland, I had a very pleasant and informative morning visiting the Cong Salmon Hatchery in Co Mayo, followed by a trip to the River Erriff Research Station at Aasleagh Lodge, Leenane, Co Galway. The station has been carrying out scientific research into salmon and sea trout for more than 30 years. It is an excellent facility.
