I am delighted that Men’s Sheds in Galway East received allocations totalling €9,950 from my Department, the Department of Rural and Community Development, in 2019.
The allocations, which are made under the Community Enhancement Programme, are for purchasing equipment and carrying out refurbishment works.
Men’s Sheds supported included Tuam, Athenry, Carrabane and Loughrea, Headford, Portumna, Dunmore and Lackagh.
I want to congratulate them on their allocations. I will continue to support all Men’s Sheds in Galway East in their pursuit of finding.
Men’s Sheds perform a very important social service, particular for men who live in isolated areas.
I am also pleased to see that my department has funded 33 Women’s Sheds nationally and I would strongly encourage the development of Women’s Sheds in Galway East.
Finally, I want to acknowledge the continuing support of my ministerial colleague, Minister Michael Ring TD, for his continuing support for Men’s and Women’s Sheds.
