I have received confirmation of an allocation of €14,000 to set back a boundary wall in order to improve pedestrian access and connect existing footpaths at Tuam Road, Athenry.
The funding has been allocated under the Community Involvement budget allocated to Galway County Council by the Department of Transport.
This is very welcome news. The works, when completed, will also improve lines of sight for residents coming out of the Garrai Glas housing estate.
I want to acknowledge the efforts of former councillor Peter Feeney and Cllr Gabe Cronnelly for their support and co-operation in bringing this project to a successful conclusion.
The works will be carried out by Galway County Council.
