I am delighted that the Loughrea Walks project is to receive €100,000 under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme for phase two of the redevelopment of the moat walks around the town.
This follows a €100,000 allocation last year, also from my department, the Department of Rural and Community Development, for phase one of the scheme, which has now been completed.
This is a very important heritage project, which will be a great asset to local enthusiasts and tourists alike.
I am very pleased to have been in a position to assist the Walks Committee in their application for funding. I acknowledge the work of the Committee and the support of Galway County Council in bringing this project to fruition.
