I have received confirmation that the Medical Appeals Board members have resigned in recent weeks.

“I have received written confirmation from the Secretary of the Appeals Committee that the present board members have resigned in recent weeks.”

“I understand that the Department of Health and Finance are now working to appoint members to a new appeals Board.

This will lead to further delays to the processing of appeals, where I have constituents waiting up to 2 years for an appeal to be heard.

“This is totally unfair on people with a disability to have to wait for such a long time to have their appeals heard.

“I will be raising this issue at the next meeting of the Disability Matters Committee as it is not the way to treat people with a disability”.
