Galway East TD and Minister for Rural Affairs Seán Canney has received confirmation from Galway County Council that tender documents for the renewal scheme for Corofin village are being prepared.
The works include a pedestrian crossing, footpaths, lighting and other enhancements.
Minister Canney said; “I am pleased that the scheme is progressing. My department, the Department of Rural and Community Development, provided funding of €100,000 towards the cost of the works under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
“I have also been informed that the County Council has applied to the National Transport Authority for funding for a bus shelter for the village.
“These works will enhance Corofin village and make it a safe haven for pedestrians of all ages.
“I want to acknowledge the support of Corofin Community Development Association and the input of local residents into this project.”
