Seán Canney TD has received confirmation that the building contractor has been appointed for the refurbishment of the old library and conversion into an Intreo Centre for Social Welfare services for Tuam and the North Galway region.

Finna Construction from Cong to Mayo are the successful contractors and work will commence on site in August. The project will be completed in 7 months.

“The project represents an investment of approximately €2 million in the centre of Tuam and will bring back into use an iconic building in the centre of the town”.

The works will include the conversion of the existing building into offices for the Department of Social Protection as a one stop shop for social welfare services.

The project is being managed by the Office of Public Works on behalf of the Department of Social Protection.
