Great news that childcare groups in Galway East have been allocated more than €300,000 in capital funding to boost new childcare places in the constituency.
The allocation is part of a €6.5 million investment nationally to create more than 3,600 places for children from pre-school up to the age of 15.
I very much welcome these funding awards. Working parents are under enough pressure without having to worry about a lack of available places. It is also great news for the successful groups who engaged in a highly competitive application and appraisal process.
Groups receiving support include Once Upon A Time, Wiz Kidz and Bright Sparks in Tuam, Ballinderry Childcare Creche, Kilconnell, Mountbellew Community Childcare Centre, Tomorrow’s World, Attymon, Athenry, Cortoon/Lavally Community Development Company, Scoil Mhuire, Clarinbridge, Tots Paradise, Montpelier, Athenry and Lawrencetown Community Development Group.
Government investment in early learning and care has jumped 117% since 2015.
