East Galway TD Seán Canney has received confirmation from the Office of Public Works that the tender for the refurbishment of the old library in Shop Street, Tuam, has been advertised.
‘The tender for the refurbishment work consists of the refurbishment of the old library and the installation of a lift. The building will be used by the Department of Social Protection as an Intreo centre.’
Deputy Canney said that the project will bring this iconic building back into use in the town centre after ten years of closure. ‘The tender process will take three months to complete and I expect that the construction will commence later this year. Works are expected to take six months to complete,’ concluded Deputy Canney.
