Seán Canney T.D. has welcomed the increases in funding for rural Ireland. In particular that additional funding of €19 million for rural and community development is vital to enhance rural Ireland. The further increase in Rural Social Scheme (RSS) participants of 250 is also very important. This brings that total increase in participant numbers up to 3,250.
‘For farmers there is additional ANC funding of €25 million, €25 million fund for a Brexit related loan scheme and €25 million for the continuation of the sheep scheme.
‘There is also the €1.5 billion exchequer funding being invested in agriculture. These measure in the budget are a clear indication that rural and agriculture issues are at the heart of the programme for Government’ concluded Deputy Canney.
