Deputy Seán Canney welcomes the increase in 1,300 additional teaching posts in schools in 2018. This will result in the pupil teacher ratio being reduced to 26 to 1 in Primary Schools. This is the lowest level the ratio has ever been’ stated Deputy Canney.
There is also an investment of over 1.70 billion in special education needs in 2017. This will result if over 1,000 additional Special Needs Assistants who will be recruited in time for September 2018 school year.
