Galway East TD and Minister for Rural Affairs, Natural Resources and Digital Development Seán Canney has welcomed funding from the Department of Education and Skills for work at two Galway schools.

The Department’s School Building Unit has approved funding for additional accommodation to refurbish and create two Special Education Teacher rooms at St Brendan’s National School, Portumna and emergency works for an external environmental project and fire safety at Gort Community School.

Minister Canney said: “This is great news for both schools and I want to thank my colleague, Minister of Education Joe McHugh TD and his department for approving this funding.”

The schools will be informed of the details of the funding in due course. The amount of funding is not made public to avoid prejudicing the tendering process.
