Following representations from the Board of Management of Seamount College, Kinvara, East Galway TD Seán Canney has received confirmation from the Department of Education that approval has been given to provide 2 general classrooms, 2 standard WCs, 1 WC for assisted users and 1 Home Economics room.
While this funding is very welcome the staff of the College need more funding to bring the college up to modern standards. This funding is the first step in the overall master plan for Seamount College. This is positive news for the school which has increased their numbers over the years.
This is a devolved grant and the school have been notified this week about this.
I visited the school and met with the Principal, Staff and Board of Management to see first-hand the needs of the school and I will continue to fight for additional funding for this very progressive school.
