Galway East TD Seán Canney has welcomed funding for five towns and villages in County Galway under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Five broadband digital hubs are to be established to enable home working and learning. Work on these five, two of which are off-shore, will be grant aided to a cost of over €39,000.
There will also be footpath improvements in Tuam and Loughrea at a cost of €39,600 and €25,000 respectively. €19,800 has been granted for the creation of village recreational space in Mullagh and €25,000 for improvements to community recreational areas in Glenamaddy.
‘The town and village grants are an important source of funding for towns across East Galway and it is important that out towns and villages are allowed to adapt as necessary to changes brought about by Covid, especially in relation to home and remote working,’ concluded Deputy Canney.
