News that the contract is to be awarded for the construction of the Presentation College Athenry was welcomed this week by Seán Canney TD.
‘The Department of Education has confirmed that approval to issue a letter of intent to award a contract for Presentation College Athenry has issued to the National Development Finance Agency, which is delivering the project on behalf of the Department of Education.
‘This is a critically important piece of infrastructure for the Athenry area and as such, it is imperative that it is delivered in a timely manner. Significant delays have already been experienced in terms of the provision of educational facilities in Athenry. The appointment of a contractor is the first real step in ensuring the delivery of this much-needed new school for Athenry and its hinterland. The construction of this new school will pave the way for the remainder of the schools planned for the Athenry area to progress to construction. As an Independent TD for Galway East, I welcome the partnership government’s commitment to the delivery of these projects and I look forward to working with all parties to ensuring their successful delivery.’
