Galway East TD Seán Canney has welcomed the decision by Galway County Council of their decision to grant planning permission for an extension to the NATUS Medical facility at Gort which will allow for the creation of 75 additional jobs for the area..
‘The permission granted includes commercial storage space and distribution centres within an additional space of 24,000 square feet.
‘The extension will allow the company to increase its workforce from its present number of 125 to 200 within the next 18 months.
‘The decision by the Company to expand the facility in Gort is a boost for jobs in the area.
‘Gort is located on the new M17/M18 motorway and the expansion by NATUS has been influenced by the development and opening of the motorway.
‘NATUS Medical has been present in Gort for the last 12 years and this development will ensure its future is secure for Gort.
‘The Company manufactures a large range of healthcare products used for screening, detection, treatment, monitoring of common medical ailments such as hearing impairment, epilepsy, sleep disorders, new born jaundice, new born metabolic testing and neurological dysfunction.
‘It is expected that construction work will commence on site in early 2018 with completion of the facility expected by early 2019.
‘This is a welcome jobs boost for Gort. It is imperative that we continue to provide the necessary infrastructure to allow companies like NATUS to realise their full potential for job creation in Galway East.
