The need for a full complement of diagnostic services at the new Primary Care Centre in Tuam has been highlighted to incoming Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Health Minister Simon Harris by East Galway TD Seán Canney in recent days.
Deputy Canney has stated that Tuam Primary Care Centre must be a fully resourced Primary Care Centre, to include x-ray, ultrasound and other diagnostic services in order to ease congestion, particularly in the A&E department of UHG.
‘I have raised this issue with Leo Varadkar and he accepted my reasoning on this. As a former Minister of Health, he is well aware of the congestion and overcrowding issues surrounding UHG. I have also discussed this matter with Health Minister Simon Harris and am calling on the HSE to make the necessary provisions now to ensure that the new primary care centre in Tuam has provision for x-ray facilities.’
