The Government have failed to increase the amount of funding in the Sheep Welfare Scheme in the Budget.
“At a time of rising input costs and a low price on sales of lamb, sheep farmers are struggling to remain in business”.
The Government have failed to recognise this crisis and have omitted to increase the Sheep Welfare Scheme to support the small family farms.
Many farmers in County Galway have been in contact with me on this issue as they see the importance of the Sheep Welfare Scheme in keeping the business viable in the face of increase costs of production”.
