I was sadden to learn of the death of former Minister Noel Treacy, a friend and an outstanding public representative, who served both his community and country with great distinction over 30 years.
Representing our constituency of Galway East in the Dáil from 1982 right through to 2011, Noel was a great public representative and represented the constituency with great pride. His public service record and his work across his many Ministerial roles in a number of departments has left a great legacy.
His energy levels were astonishing, and he brought that same energy to his role as County Chairman of Galway GAA.
My sympathies go to his wife Mary, his children Joan, Emer, Lisa and Rory.
May his Gentle soul rest in peace.
