I have received confirmation that the road re-alignment project through Abbeyknockmoy Village eliminating the very bad bends at the bridge entering the village from Dereen is progressing with the project being prepared for planning permission in early 2022.
“The N8 is a major feeder road on to the motorway and carries many heavy trucks and cars routing from Roscommon and East Galway accessing the motorway”.
“The present alignment along this road is not fit for purpose from Horseleap Cross to Abbeyknockmoy and the entrance to the village over the Abbert Bridge is a particularly dangerous bottleneck”.
“It is also important that this project progresses to allow Abbeyknockmoy Village to develop its full potential”.
“It is expected that the project will progress through the planning and C.P.O process in the next year with procurement and construction in2021. Infrastructure projects take time to develop and get ready for construction and it is important that they progress as quickly as possible”.
Welcome progress with Abbeyknockmoy Road re-alignment
