East Galway TD Seán Canney and Ballinasloe area Cllr. Tim Broderick have this week welcomed works in Fohenagh to raise a road which flooded last winter.
Galway County Council has commenced works on the raising of the road at Fohenagh. Funding was received from the Department of Transport for the works. Cllr. Broderick and Deputy Canney recently met with local people affected by the flooding. Access to their properties was cut off during the height of the floods. The works will reduce the risk of the road flooding in the event of heavy rainfall.
Deputy Canney and Cllr. Broderick, in a joint statement, said, ‘The Community Council have worked hard to instigate these works and Galway County Council is also to be commended for its role in bringing this project to fruition.’
