Seán Canney, Independent TD for Galway East has welcomed the inclusion of both Headford and Loughrea in funding announced to enhance streetscapes and shopfronts.
‘The funding is part of a new €7 million fund which aims to enhance streetscapes and shopfronts in towns and villages by making streetscapes more colourful and vibrant.
‘Projects under the scheme can include upgrades to building facades, artwork, murals, lighting, street furniture and canopies. This funding aims to make towns such as Headford and Loughrea more attractive and welcoming for locals and visitors by offering a colourful and well-maintained streetscape and the provision of attractive street lighting, street furniture, shrubbery and flower boxes and the decluttering of streetscapes through the removal of unnecessary signs and wires.
‘I welcome the inclusion of Headford and Loughrea in this funding announcement and look forward to the results of this additional funding in both towns. I would urge local businesses and property owners who are considering an upgrade of the facade of their building to contact Galway County Council about this funding.’
