I have received confirmation from Minister for Housing and Local Government Darragh O’Brien that he has signed off on the €1 million in additional funding for Galway County Council.
The once off exceptional allowance must be divided equally among the Galway County five Municipal Districts and will boost their funding by €200,000 each and forms part of their discretionary budget as opposed to balancing their books in this challenging year. The Municipal Districts are Tuam, Ballinasloe, Athenry/Oranmore, Loughrea and Connemara.
‘I am delighted to see the Municipal Districts benefit in this way and will provide for additional projects to be delivered in the Districts’.
‘I acknowledge the work of former Minister John Paul Phelan in initiating this fund and I thank Minister Darragh O’Brien for his swift follow through in allocating the vital funding’.
I welcome €1 million additional funding delivered for Galway County Council
