I am delighted as TD & PRO of Belclare Sylane Community Council to confirm that the Community Council have been successful in our application for funding under the Leader Programme for enhancement works at the Community Sports Facility in Belclare.

‘The facility has been awarded €99,218.82 in grant assistance toward three projects at the facility’.

Project 1 includes the replacement of the playing surface on the Astro Turf Pitch, the replace of the ball catching net, new nets for the goals, the replacement of plywood sheeting to the recessed goals and replacement of floodlights with LED energy saving lights.

Project 2 consists of the addition of play equipment to the playground to help develop functional movement in young children, the installation of a swing basket for children with disabilities and the installation of outdoor exercise equipment for all ages.

Project 3 consists of the surfacing of the carpark adjacent to the main road including carpark lining, signage and drainage.

Works are expected to commence next month, and all works will be completed this year.

The Grant of funding represents a major boost to help the wellbeing of people of all ages in the Community.
