Seán Canney TD has welcomed the decision by An Bord Pleanala to uphold the decision to grant permission for a foodstore in Tuam.
The decision to uphold the planning decision is a major boost for the retail trade in the centre of Tuam.
‘It is excellent that Aldi are to locate in the centre of the town as part of Glynn’s Hardware store site. The site is adjacent to the existing shopping centre and multi storey carpark’.
The store will greatly improve the footfall of shoppers in Tuam and will have a positive effect on all the local shops, boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants in the town.
The building consists of an 1816 m² retail space and will be serviced by 97 carparking spaces and ancillary structures.
‘This project is adding to the development of Tuam town centre and follows on from the announcement that the Old Library on Shop Street is to be refurbished with work commencing in August’.
