Sewerage schemes are urgently needed for growth centres in Galway and should be fast-tracked.
There are areas for development around the Galway East constituency that need sewerage treatment centres to unlock their potential for badly-needed housing.
Galway County Council has applied for funding at three locations – Abbeyknockmoy, Craughwell and Corofin.
I understand that these applications are being evaluated and a list will be presented to the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government Eoghan Murphy in late June.
I am calling on the Minister to fast track funding because these projects are vital to develop and provide housing at affordable prices.
This type of investment is also essential for kick-starting the economy in the regions, which is even more acutely needed in the context of COVID-19.
DEPARTMENT SHOULD BRING FORWARD SEWERAGE SCHEMES TO STIMULATE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT
