Sewerage schemes are urgently needed for growth centres in Galway and should be fast-tracked.
That is according to Galway East TD and Minister for Rural Affairs Seán Canney.
Minister Canney said: “There are areas for development around the constituency that need sewerage treatment centres to unlock their potential for badly-needed housing.
“I can confirm that Galway County Council has applied for funding at three locations – Abbeyknockmoy, Craughwell and Corofin.
“I understand that these applications are being evaluated and a list will be presented to the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government Eoghan Murphy in late June.
“I am calling on the Minister to fast track funding because these projects are vital to develop and provide housing at affordable prices.
“This type of investment is also essential for kick-starting the economy in the regions, which is even more acutely needed in the context of COVID-19.
