Galway County Council has been granted €56,880 to carry out flood relief works at Eskerboy, Killimor, by the Office of Public Works.
Galway East TD and Minister for Rural Affairs Seán Canney said: “I am delighted with this award for this much-needed project.
“The works at Eskerboy involve the installation of a new piped drainage system to replace the existing stone and oversized culvert.
“I am pleased that Galway County Council has received more than €3.5 million for flood relief under the Minor Works Scheme since I was first elected four years ago.
“After being appointed Minister for the Office of Public Works in 2016, I introduced changes to the cost benefit analysis processes to make it easier for flood relief works to be approved.
“I acknowledge the work of Galway County Council in its efforts to carry out works to tackle flooding and I continue to work with the council to secure funding for future flood relief projects.”
