I am calling on all car insurance companies to offer refunds to recompense drivers for the COVID-19 restrictions.
Some car insurance companies that are members of Insurance Ireland said last week that they would offer refunds because of the reduction in traffic volumes and consequent claims.
This is very welcome. I have been calling for some weeks for the Irish insurance companies to follow the example of some of the big American insurers.
Last week’s announcement from Insurance Ireland members was a step in the right direction but we need all car insurance companies to take a similar approach so there is fairness for all drivers.
We also need more information about the scale of recompense being offered.
