I have received confirmation that €50,400 has been allocated under the county roads programme for an extension to the footpath at Carrowpeter, Tuam.
The works will include the installation of a 300-metre footpath from the Élite Filling Station towards Toghermore. Public lighting will also be installed along the route.
This footpath is essential to provide a safe walking access along this very popular route.
I acknowledge the efforts of local residents, local councillors and the Tuam Council engineering staff in bringing forward this project.
