I am delighted that the East Galway Sports Campus has been awarded a significant Government grant to develop its facilities.
The campus at New Inn has been allocated funding of €749,000 for its major sports facility serving Galway East.
The development will include a full-size astro turf pitch, a multi-use games area for volleyball, tennis and underage soccer, a multi-purpose training area, a ball wall for handball, racketball and hurling practice, a basketball court, a bocce playing area, new dressing rooms, new car parking and general landscaping.
This is a major development that will greatly enhance sports facilities in Galway East.
The award has been made by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport under the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund.
I met the New Inn Development Committee on a number of occasions and I want to congratulate them on achieving this substantial investment.
