As Minister of State in the Department of Rural and Community Development, I had the great honour of launching the Dormant Accounts Fund Action Plan 2020 in Dublin this morning.
I am making €45.5 million available from the fund for 43 measures aimed at supporting people who are disadvantaged or who have a disability.
It was great to be joined by so many groups that have benefited from the Dormant Accounts Fund, including Sport Ireland, Tennis Ireland, the Probation Service PACE and Frontline, Glasnevin Cemetery Museum, the Migrant Integration Project and Exwell Medical.
They each gave inspiring presentations on the ways in which funding has been used for initiatives supporting disadvantaged communities.
The whole purpose of the “#DormantAccounts funding is to assist the most vulnerable people in our society, promote social inclusion and help strengthen our communities.
As one of our speakers this morning said, it could also be known as the “Leave No-One Behind Fund.”
