National Strategy for Angling Development helps to promote interest in recreational angling
I recently visited the Outdoor Range shop Tuam. The Outdoor Ranger has received funding from I.F.I under the National Strategy for Angling Development to provide Youth Anglers Starter kits and hold information sessions about recreational angling.
‘The programme is a very exciting innovation in the strategy to promote recreational angling amounts young people.
‘The initiative is supported locally by Cáirde on Clár, the umbrella for clubs based along the Clare River and Tuam Anglers Club is part of this group.
‘There will be a workshop this Wednesday 31st in Tuam with a visit to the Oughterard Fishing School on Sunday. Contact the Outdoor Ranger for details.
‘Recreational Angling is of tremendous importance in Ireland. Over 400,000 people engaged in angling in Ireland with 273,000 being domestic anglers and 130,000 coming from overseas.
