Safety works at Caheroyan to commence shortly

I have received confirmation from Galway County Council that construction work on the new footpath from the Monivea Road junction to link up with the existing path on the New Line, Athenry will begin in the coming weeks.
The council are awaiting the return of the tenders for the works and following evaluation of the tenders the works will proceed. This is a very dangerous area for pedestrians due to the high volume and speed of the traffic. When completed, the works will provide a safe access for pedestrians. I want to acknowledge the work of Cllr. Gabe Cronnelly and Cllr. Peter Feeney who have worked tirelessly with me to get this project completed.
